This is a vintage Moroccan Boucherouite rug. “Boucherouite” refers to the materials the rug is made out of- scraps of cotton, nylon, and some wool. These types of rugs emerged as a result of social and economic changes, specifically the transition from nomadic herding to modern forms of employment. This transition made wool harder to come by, so the rugs were made out of recycled, pre-used scraps of cloth as an alternative. These rugs were traditionally made for domestic use and are still very common today. This particular rug is completely unique as you will never find two that are alike.
Available Size: 51" x 90"
Note: Vintage rugs are defined by their age, and are at least 30 years old, but are, in many cases, older. There is a level of wear and tear that should be expected when buying a vintage rug, including (but not limited to): uneven edges, faded color, frayed edges, loose threads, etc. Any vintage rug listed by La Maison Maslouhi is structurally-sound, but it may have some aesthetic quirks. Please keep this in mind when purchasing a vintage rug.
